The Express and Star reporter Joe Edwards has recently aired Wolverhampton Wanderers’ plans for the domestic transfer window.

On Monday, the international transfer window closed with the Old Gold having signed seven players including Matija Sarkic on a free transfer from Aston Villa (per Transfermarkt).

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side paid transfer fees for four of the seven players and those deals amounted to a whopping £73.62m spent.

However, Wolves still have the opportunity to sign players from EFL clubs in a domestic transfer window which will run until 5pm on 16th October (per Sky Sports).

In the latest episode of the E&S Wolves Podcast, Edwards revealed what the Old Gold were planning on doing in the domestic transfer window.

To kick off this quiz on Raul Jimenez, what is his current squad number for the Old Gold?

He said: “Now there’s this domestic window, which [I] don’t expect Wolves to operate in barring [outgoings].

“[That will be] the likes of Oskar Buur, Roderick Miranda, Ryan Bennett, Dion Sanderson. Even dipping into the [Under-23s], the likes of Niall Ennis, people like that.

“Then, in terms of incomings, there won’t be anything barring something serious happening to one of [the] international players – say if, hypothetically, [Ruben] Neves gets an injury away with Portugal; it would have to be something quite drastic.

“So, for all intents and purposes, Wolves’ business is done.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that Wolves will not be making use of the domestic transfer window for incomings unless players pick up injuries before it closes.

According to Nuno Santo, as reported by the Express and Star, “98 per cent of the squad” will be away on international duty during the current break.

Should Wolves be looking to sign some players from the EFL in the domestic transfer window?

No, the squad is fine

Yes, we need more depth

The claim from Edwards may come as a surprise to some Wolves supporters as the current first-team squad looks slightly light for numbers in certain positions (per Transfermarkt).

Wolves have just one out-and-out right-winger, four players who play through the middle of midfield and only four natural centre-backs with a squad number.

So, perhaps Wolves should, in fact, be looking at making some further additions.
