West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has recently discussed why David Moyes may not be keen on signing Rico Henry from Brentford.

During the summer, the Hammers were linked with a swoop for the Championship full-back in a report which was published by the Daily Mail.

However, the Irons were supposedly not alone in their interest in the 23-year-old defender as Brighton & Hove Albion, Leeds United and West Bromwich Albion were also accredited with an interest.

The full-back currently has three years left on his contract with the Bees and a market value of £1.8m according to Transfermarkt.

During the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed several players that the club is eyeing a swoop for, however, he discussed what is putting David Moyes off signing Henry.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “It wouldn’t be a surprise if we maybe look at Henry, [Josh] Dasilva or [Said] Benrahma but I think, again, the prices are going to be the key factor.

“I don’t know whether he’ll go for Henry because Moyes, I’ve been told, feels that he is too small – which is a bit random because he’s a left-back, [it doesn’t] really make much difference. I think, also, with [Arthur] Masuaku [playing well] now, I’d be surprised if we went for him.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, as can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, it seems that Henry’s height is what is putting Moyes off making a move to sign the Englishman.

While the club insider does admit the reasoning is “a bit random”, it seems even more so due to the fact that the Brentford defender is the same height as West Ham full-back Aaron Cresswell.

Both Henry and Cresswell play in the same position predominantly and are both 170cm tall.

Whether that is the real reason as to why Moyes has reservations about the defender or not, it remains to be seen if the Irons make a move for Henry before the domestic transfer window closes.
