Niall McCaughan, Jim Salveson and Matt Cunningham discussed all of the latest Premier League news on a recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast and they spent some time talking about the possibility of the Irons signing Brentford attacker Said Benrahma during the show.

During the summer transfer window, the Hammers completed permanent deals for Slavia Prague duo Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek, whilst during the extended domestic window, former West Brom defender Craig Dawson was brought in on loan from Watford, following their relegation to the Championship last season (per Transfermarkt).

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

While the Premier League’s international transfer window closed on 5th October, the Irons still have until Friday to sign players from EFL clubs and they have been linked with a move for Benrahma of late, with recent reports claiming that David Moyes’ side are ‘confident’ of signing the Algerian.

Salveson discussed the possibility of West Ham signing Benrahma during this recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast and he shared some confidence that this transfer will happen, while he also shared some excitement about this potential addition to the Irons’ squad, saying: “I think Said Benrahma could be one of those players that lights up the London Stadium.

“He [is] kind of in the guise of that Dimitri Payet, Paolo Di Canio, Eyal Berkovic, kind of that flair player that West Ham fans tend to really get behind, and also a little bit of a wildcard, a little bit of a loose cannon.

“I’m still quite positive about this one, I think the deal might still go ahead, but obviously there’s a big 48 hours to go.”

Do you think West Ham will sign Benrahma before Friday's deadline?

TIF Thoughts on Salveson’s claim on Said Benrahma…

So, as can be seen in what Salveson had to say, it seems that he thinks the 25-year-old attacker is the type of player that West Ham fans would like to see playing for their club.

It will be interesting to see if West Ham can get this deal done before Friday’s deadline and if so, whether or not the £9.45m-rated man can live up to Salveson’s expectations for him.

Benrahma has enjoyed some impressive seasons in England’s second-tier in recent years, as he made 25 goal contributions in the 2018/19 Championship campaign and he went one better in the 2019/20 season when he made 26 goal contributions in the league.

These numbers will surely excite Irons supporters should this deal get done and hopefully, for the East London club, the Algerian can replicate this impressive form in the Premier League if he makes the move up to the top-flight.
