Speaking on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed West Ham United’s interest in Porto centre-forward Moussa Marega.

Since moving to Porto from CS Maritimo in what was a £3.42 million deal back in 2016, Marega has impressed for the Liga NOS side, scoring 62 goals and providing 30 assists over his 152 appearances for the club.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

Last season, the £18 million-rated 29-year-old was in particularly fine form, bagging 12 goals and providing five assists over his 29 league appearances and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.2/10 – ranking him as the club’s sixth-best performer in the league.

The Mali international appears to have carried this form into the club’s 2020/21 campaign, as after making five league appearances, the striker already has two goals to his name, as well as averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.19.

It would seem that these impressive performances have caught the eye of West Ham and David Moyes, as speaking on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee claimed that the club could make a move for Marega in the January transfer window.

He said: “Other players that have been on the radar whose contract’s up in the summer who we could potentially move for in January are: Moussa Marega, he’s a striker at Porto.

“We’ve been heavily linked with him for years. His contract is up [next summer], so if [Michail] Antonio does continue to be injured, that could be an option.

“I think [West Ham would] have to pay quite a bit, because I think there’d be a lot of clubs interested in him.”

Do you think Moussa Marega would be a good January signing for West Ham?

TIF Thoughts on @ExWHUemployee’s comments regarding Moussa Marega…

From @ExWHUemployee’s comments, it is clear that he is of the belief that the club do indeed hold an interest in Marega, and that West Ham have been linked with the striker for a number of years, however, he also feels that the signing may not be the easiest for West Ham to get done, as he imagines plenty of other clubs being interested in the 29-year-old.

However, regardless of this, West Ham’s potential move for Marega is something that we will be keeping a very close eye on as the January transfer window draws closer.
