West Ham United insider @ExWHUemployee has recently made a claim regarding the Hammers’ interest in Brentford midfielder Josh Dasilva.

While the international transfer window has now closed, the Irons are allowed to trade with EFL clubs until 5pm on 16th October in a domestic transfer window (per Sky Sports).

That means that David Moyes’ outfit could land any number of targets from the Championship, League One or League Two and @ExWHUemployee believed that Dasilva was on their radar.

However, on Tuesday, it was revealed that the central midfielder had signed a new contract with the Bees that will run until the summer of 2024 (per BBC).

In the latest episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, though, the in-the-know podcaster discussed several players the Hammers are eyeing and mentioned the 21-year-old Englishman.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “Another player from Brentford that we like is Josh Dasilva. He’s actually the Ilford lad, he used to play for Arsenal Academy, he’s an England Under-21 player. He’s a good player for Brentford, central midfielder. He’s someone that we also have looked at.

“So, there are a number of players from Brentford. I’ve said many times we’ve scouted players from there.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know podcaster had to say, he evidently believes that Dasilva is a player on West Ham’s radar as a potential signing in the domestic transfer window.

Would you be happy if West Ham signed Josh Dasilva from Brentford?

No, he's not that good

So far this season, the 21-year-old Englishman has made four appearances in the Championship for the Bees in which he has scored one goal and provided one assist (per WhoScored).

His performances in the second tier have earned him a stellar 7.47/10 average rating which would make him the Hammers’ fourth-best performer if he earned the same for them in the top flight.

And, he impressed for the England U21 side recently, bagging a goal and an assist in their win over Andorra.

With the midfielder having a market value of £2.43m according to Transfermarkt, if Moyes’ side could strike up a deal for around that figure it would seemingly be a good move.

However, with Dasilva having just signed a contract extension, that could perhaps throw a spanner in the works.
