Dean Jones has been discussing the future of Antonio Rudiger and West Ham United’s reported interest in the 27-year-old during a recent edition of the B/R Football Ranks podcast.

Rudiger is yet to appear for Frank Lampard’s side in the Premier League this season, despite the club paying £31.5m to sign him from back in July 2017 (as per Transfermarkt).

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the ?

The Hammers have already tried to sign James Tarkowski from Burnley during this window.

According to Sky Sports, they had three offers rejected for the centre-back, we assume, leaving the supporters frustrated but according to Jones, the German international could be an alternative option. Here is what he had to say:

“Chelsea have zero plans for [Antonio] Rudiger to be part of the plans this season and he’s not particularly happy about it from what I’ve been told.

“He looks like he is on his way out, I don’t see this situation turning around. Really, I feel quite sorry for Rudiger.

“He probably is going to move on and West Ham [are] definitely in for him, don’t be surprised if that is where he turns up.”

TIF Thoughts…

Last season, Rudiger made 20 appearances in the Premier League and according to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating was a solid 6.77/10.

His strengths are said to include his ability to pass well and maintain high concentration levels during matches.

According to Transfermarkt, the player’s value currently stands at £36m, but given that according to Jones, he has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge, perhaps it could be argued that Chelsea may be willing to accept less as they try to move the player on.
