Speaking on a recent episode of the Ask Ornstein YouTube show, David Ornstein discussed West Bromwich Albion’s interest in Huddersfield Town striker Karlan Grant.

Since moving to Huddersfield from Charlton Athletic in what was a £1.53 million deal in January 2019, Grant has gone on to feature 57 times for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing five assists along the way.

How well do you remember the action from the opening weekend of the Premier League? - 1. Who scored the first goal of the season?

Last season, the £5.85 million-rated 23-year-old highly impressed for the Terriers in the league, despite the club’s disappointing 18th-placed finish, scoring 19 goals, providing four assists and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.89/10 over his 43 Championship appearances – ranking him as the club’s best performer in the league, of players to have featured more than once.

As a result of these fine performances, West Brom are reported to be keen on a move for the forward, with Town being said to be likely to accept a loan-to-buy deal for Grant.

This deal was one topic of discussion on a recent episode of the Ask Ornstein YouTube show, when, in response to a question regarding who some of the most sought-after EFL players during the domestic-only transfer window will be, the journalist mentioned the Baggies’ interest in Grant.

He said: “Karlan Grant – he looks to have been lined up for a move to West Brom, let’s see if that one comes to fruition. The [transfer] deadline is Friday the 16th of October.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Ornstein’s comments, it would appear as if the journalist is of the belief that there is indeed truth in the reports that West Brom are looking to get a deal done for Grant.

As such, with around a week remaining of the domestic-only transfer window, with the deadline of October 16 approaching, this is a deal that we will certainly be keeping a very close eye on in coming days.
