Spurs fans on Twitter have flocked to a tweet from Alasdair Gold which provided an update on the North London club’s imminent signing of Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius.
The football.london reporter shared the news on Twitter that Benfica have now officially confirmed that the Brazilian will join Spurs on loan this season for a fee of £2.73 million.
The Liga NOS side also reportedly confirms that the Lilywhites have the option to buy the striker for £38 million, which they will surely consider if he impresses during his loan spell.
Last season in the Portuguese top flight, Vinicius contributed a hugely impressive 18 goals and five assists in 32 appearances, which saw him average a very solid 7.01 rating (per Whoscored).
The 25-year-old will no doubt get plenty of game time during his spell with Jose Mourinho’s side, due to the number of fixtures Spurs have to play, as well as their lack of natural striker options, so if he can perform at a similar level to last season in the Premier League, then he will surely prove to be a huge success.
Do you think Vinicius will be a good signing?
