Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a post from the club’s official Twitter account which confirms that the North London club will face Stoke City in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
The club confirmed on Twitter that the Lilywhites will travel to face the Championship side in the next round of the competition.
Spurs beat Chelsea on penalties earlier this week in the fourth round, after being awarded a bye in their earlier tie against League Two side Leyton Orient after a number of their first-team players tested positive for the current viral infection (per Sky Sports).
Spurs fans will no doubt be hoping for a positive run in this competition, as their last trophy success also came in the League Cup back in 2008, so, perhaps Jose Mourinho has his eye on this as being the one to end that disappointing trophyless spell.
Stoke are currently 15th in the Championship table (at the time of writing), so the Lilywhites should be confident of progression, but there can be no doubt that Michael O’Neill’s side will make things difficult for the North London club, having won 1-0 away at Aston Villa in the previous round.
Can Spurs win the Carabao Cup?
