Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to a post about Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

This comes after Spurs news Twitter account @TheSpursExpress shared a tongue-in-cheek post on their page quote-tweeting a post from the winger who shared a message to Newcastle fans about his decision to sign a new six-year deal at St. James’ Park.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

In the message, Saint-Maximin claimed that he has a “big dream of following in the footsteps of David Ginola” and leaving his mark on the Tyneside club.

In response to this post from the Frenchman, the Spurs page said that this point from Saint-Maximin has ‘confirmed’ he will move to Tottenham after his spell at Newcastle, just as Ginola did.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans who were quick to share their thoughts on this potential future transfer.

Here’s a sample of Spurs fans responding to the post:

The 23-year-old, who is currently valued at £28.8 million, signed to Newcastle back in the 2019 summer transfer window from OGC Nice for a fee of £16.2 million. Since then, the winger has made a total of 34 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side in which he has managed to score five goals and provide eight assists (per Transfermarkt).

Some Spurs fans pointed out that their club currently has the number 14 squad number available, which they think could potentially belong to Saint-Maximin if he were to make the move to the north London club in the future.

Some Spurs fans, however, were not convinced that Saint-Maximin meant that he will move to Spurs after he leaves Newcastle and follow in Ginola’s footsteps in that regard.

In our view, just because Saint-Maximin said he wants to follow in Ginola’s footsteps, this doesn’t mean that he will definitely move to Spurs when he leaves Newcastle.
