Alasdair Gold discussed all of the latest Tottenham Hotspur news on the most recent video that has been posted to his YouTube channel and he spent some time talking about Dele Alli during the video.

Alli has made just four appearances for the Lilywhites so far this season, starting two of those games – versus Everton and versus Shkendija Tetovo – while he came off of the bench in Spurs’ clashes against Manchester United and versus Maccabi Haifa earlier this term.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

The 24-year-old played just 45 minutes in his only Premier League start this season – Spurs’ clash with Everton on 13th September – which was also the north London club’s very first game of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign.

He has been left out of the squad for three of Tottenham’s five top-flight fixtures so far this term.

As many as 16 Tottenham players have earned a higher overall WhoScored rating than Alli (6.27) so far during the 2020/21 Premier League season, which might also suggest that the Englishman hasn’t performed very well in the league games he has played in this term and may back up Spurs boss Jose Mourinho’s decision to leave him out of the squad of late.

However, during this recent YouTube video, Gold shared a positive update on Alli, saying: “Everything from inside Spurs says that he’s reacted really well.

“As soon as he realised he wasn’t going to get a loan or anything anywhere, he had to get his head down and completely focus on the task at hand – apparently, his training has been superb.

“So, I’d be really interested to see now, with a point to prove, whether Dele can absolutely smash it as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s update on Alli…

As per The Guardian, Spurs boss Jose Mourinho criticised Alli’s work in training during the Tottenham-focused Amazon documentary All or Nothing, with the Portuguese manager telling Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy “we need to find the right motivation for the guy” and it seems as though the 57-year-old manager may have succeeded in finding a way to motivate the £46.8m-rated man if Gold is to be believed.

If his recent work in training “has been superb” as Gold said, then it will be interesting to see if Alli gets more minutes in Spurs’ first-team soon and if he produces a better performance than he did earlier on this season.
