On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on the transfer business the north London club concluded in the recent window.

One topic of discussion on the video was midfielder Oliver Skipp. The Spurs academy graduate joined Norwich City on loan ahead of the 2020/21 campaign and has been impressive in his performances so far with the Canaries, averaging a solid 6.75/10 rating across his four Championship appearances (per WhoScored), whilst he also earned the club’s Player of the Month award for September.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

Here’s what Gold had to say about the 20-year-old during the video:

“Oliver Skipp, he just wanted to go out on loan, he wanted [to] develop. Mourinho loves him, thinks he will be a future Tottenham captain. He’s gone to Norwich, smashing it, voted their Player of the Month in September.

“Norwich fans love him, he’s been absolutely rock-steady in the Championship. [He’s an] England U21 international regular now, he will come back a big talent. [I’m] really excited about how ‘Skippy’ is going to come back.”

TIF Thoughts…

From the sounds of things, Skipp was desperate to leave Spurs on loan this summer to ensure that he could get regular game time, and if he continues to impress with Norwich in the Championship, then there is perhaps no reason why he can’t be a more prominent part of Mourinho’s first-team squad when he returns to north London.

Are you excited about Skipp's potential?

As Gold suggests, the Portuguese manager has suggested that he can captain the club in seasons to come, so he clearly has high hopes for his future with the Lilywhites.
