Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to some reported news on Dele Alli, which suggests that he is in the squad to face Royal Antwerp on Thursday evening.
According to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic (via Talking THFC), the 24-year-old is expected to travel to Belgium for the Europa League tie later this week, and he is in contention to start the game. The former MK Dons man has barely featured for Jose Mourinho’s side so far this season, having made just five appearances in all competitions, with just two of those appearances coming in the Premier League (per WhoScored).
The Englishman has struggled to replicate the form he showed in his first few seasons with the north London club in recent times, and has often failed to make the Tottenham squad for Premier League games this season, once again missing out on a spot in the squad for Spurs’ 1-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday.
Do you want Alli to start on Thursday?
Yes
No
However, he has appeared from the bench in each of Spurs’ last two Europa League fixtures, grabbing a goal in the 7-2 demolition of Maccabi Haifa (per WhoScored), so perhaps we will see him play a part against the Pro League side on Thursday, as he looks to re-establish himself as part of Mourinho’s first-team plans.
So, how did these Spurs fans react to the reported news that Dele Alli is in contention to play against Royal Antwerp on Thursday?
He seemed a bit sulky / stroppy last time. Hopefully he sees this for the opportunity that it is. He’s not being punished, the team gets results when the most in form players are playing. It’s super simple.

Need a performance. Work hard, grab a goal. An on form Dele added to the mix absolutely tears this league to shreds https://t.co/9Ff1ixpNnc

As can be seen in the tweets from the Spurs fans, the majority are delighted to hear that Alli could feature on Thursday evening, and they will be hoping that he can put in a strong performance to increase his chances of featuring more regularly in the Premier League going forwards.
