Former Tottenham Hotspur striker and ESPN pundit Jurgen Klinsmann has been discussing Harry Kane following the club’s draw with West Ham United on Sunday.

Despite going 3-0 up within 16 minutes, Jose Mourinho’s side failed to take all three points thanks to three late goals from David Moyes’ side (as per BBC Sport).

Son Heung-min opened the scoring early in the game before Kane added a brace to put the Lilywhites in a commanding position, however, that wasn’t enough to deny the Hammers a share of the spoils.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

Fabian Balbuena started the comeback with a header in the 82nd minute, Davinson Sanchez ensured a nervy finish for the hosts when he scored an own goal on the 85th minute and Manuel Lanzini completed the comeback with a stunning strike deep into stoppage time (via BBC Sport).

Although the result, from a Spurs perspective, was a disappointing one in the end, in our view, one of the positives to take was another excellent performance from Harry Kane and Klinsmann was full of praise for the Englishman, here is what he had to say:

“Harry [is] evolving in his own game, he can play [as] a pure number nine or he can roam around and open up space like he did for the first goal.

“I think nowadays the traditional number nine is getting rarer and rarer.

“Harry Kane is really on top of his game and all he needs is titles. Harry needs to get some titles and put them in his pocket, that is what a whole career is all about at the end of the day.

“Hopefully, this will happen this season, it seems there is a good spirit in that group even if they gave two points away today but I see Spurs really this year as one of the teams that can win the Premier League.”

TIF Thoughts on Jurgen Klinsmann’s comments regarding the Spurs striker…

The 27-year-old has scored five goals and provided his teammates with seven assists in his first five Premier League appearances this season (as per WhoScored) and in our view, that’s an impressive return.

His average performance rating in the English top-flight currently stands at 8.65/10 which, in our view, is warranted based on the above but the former Spurs man, whilst praising Kane, emphasised the point that a player of his quality “needs” titles.

The player to date has won individual awards but is yet to win a trophy with Tottenham, although perhaps the fans will take encouragement from the fact Klinsmann believes Kane can achieve that with his current club.
