A lot of Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by football.london’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, in which he shared an article that he recently wrote for football.london discussing multiple issues concerning the Lilywhites, one being the club’s pursuit of a central defender.
As per Gold’s report, Spurs are targeting the signing of a centre-back ‘to complete their transfer window.’
In this article, Gold claims that the north London club ‘will return with another approach’ for Internazionale’s 25-year-old defender Milan Skriniar over the coming weekend, while Jose Mourinho’s side is also said to ‘have other options’ lined up for the position, such as Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral and Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger.
However, it is also claimed in this report that the Lilywhites ‘are prepared’ to abandon their pursuit of a centre-back ‘if they cannot get the right deal’ and after Gold shared this news via a tweet, plenty of Spurs supporters replied to his post to share their thoughts on this update.
Spurs will try to sign a new centre-back in the remaining days of the window, but it would have to be the right deal. Mourinho feels he has enough options available to him at the club to tackle the next few months if they can't get one they want. https://t.co/PdsJepCyEz

Some Tottenham fans replied to this post to indicate that they would be okay with their club not signing a new centre-back in the current transfer window.
Agree 100% on this. People won’t agree but when the striker signs you have got be happy with our business this window no doubt.

If we get Skriniar or Demiral then this window has possibly been our best ever with Vinicius coming in, even if we don’t land a CB it’s not the end of the world let’s be honest!

However, many more Lilywhites supporters replied to Gold’s tweet to share that they believe it is necessary for the north London club to sign a new centre-back before the current transfer window shuts.
Massively weak at CB, weakest we have been for several years

I disagree that we’ve enough options at CB.
Toby
Dier (Still adapting)
Sanchez
Tanganga (Still raw)We desperately need one more CB. And the puzzle is complete. For sure. https://t.co/lzvAkKwq3c

No no no no no… need Skriniar & toby.. we won’t win a trophy with dier at CB, gives away too many goal scoring opportunities

Saw this coming. Skriniar + Milik was a pipe dream (especially without a Dele sale) and a cheap loan with no CB is the ‘easy’ move. https://t.co/XPUXWAAwtz

He’s having a laugh. We haven’t kept a clean sheet yet!

Enough options but certainly not good enough options

Will you be worried if Spurs don't sign a new centre-back?
YES
NO
So, while some Spurs fans seem to be relatively content with their current central defensive options, it certainly seems like the majority of Lilywhites supporters think it is a must for their club to add a new central defender to their squad.
It will be interesting to see how the north London club’s pursuit of a centre-back develops over the weekend, ahead of Monday’s international transfer deadline.
