Speaking recently on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano ruled out Tottenham Hotspur making a move for Napoli striker, Arkadiusz Milik.

Since moving to Napoli from Ajax in what was a £28.8 million deal back in 2016, Milik has gone on to feature 122 times for the club, scoring 48 goals and providing five assists along the way.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

Last season, the £28.8 million-rated 26-year-old made 26 Serie A appearances for Gennaro Gattuso’s side, scoring 11 goals and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.88 – ranking him as the club’s fourth-best performer in the league.

In addition to this, the Poland international also featured in five Champions League fixtures for the club, over which he scored three goals and averaged a WhoScored match rating of 6.85.

However, this season, the centre-forward has been left out of Napoli’s squad lists for both Serie A and the Europa League, after it was reported that he had turned down several moves in the summer transfer window.

One of the clubs Milik was reported to have rejected was Tottenham, however, with the 26-year-old now facing the prospect of an entire season without playing for Napoli, reports have emerged suggesting that Spurs could be interested in making a move for the forward in the January transfer window.

However, speaking on a recent episode of the Here We Go podcast, Romano ruled out Jose Mourinho’s side going back in for Milik, as he believes the club are happy with their loan signing of Benfica striker, Carlos Vinicius.

He said: “I want also to deny rumours about Milik. I saw a rumour about [the] possibility that Tottenham will come back in January for Milik – it’s not true. Tottenham are happy with Carlos Vinicius and will stay with him.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Romano’s comments, the journalist would appear to be of the belief that, despite reports suggesting otherwise, Tottenham are in fact not interested in reigniting their interest in Milik, as they are content with their acquisition of Vinicius.

As such, if Romano is to be believed, it looks very unlikely that Milik will be making the move to north London any time soon.
