Football journalist David Ornstein has shed some light on Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer interest in Swansea City defender Joe Rodon.

This comes as Ornstein recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Athletic’s Ornstein & Chapman Podcast, where he spoke about a number of topics concerning a range of Premier League clubs at the moment.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

On the subject of the recent summer transfer window and what deals could be done before the domestic window shuts on October 16, Ornstein had this to say on the matter.

He said: “First things first, the domestic window is still open, so do keep an eye on the likes of Joe Rodon, who’s keen on a move to Tottenham.

“Tottenham do like him, but they need to shuffle their squad around, see if they’ve got space and I don’t think they’re going to want to pay the sort of fee that Swansea would want for him.”

After working his way through the youth system at the Welsh club, Rodon made his senior debut for Swansea back in 2018 under former Swans manager Graham Potter. Since then, the 22-year-old centre-half, who is currently valued at £1.8 million, has made 54 appearances for the Championship club.

The Welshman has made an impressive start to Swansea’s 2020/21 Championship campaign after earning himself an impressive season rating of 7.46/10 for his performances he’s made for the club so far (as per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

With Jose Mourinho’s side failing to keep a clean sheet in any game they’ve played in so far this season across all competitions, this may be a sign that they need to add some defensive reinforcements to their squad.

As Ornstein said in the podcast, with the domestic transfer window still open, a move for Rodon could well be on the cards for Spurs this month.
