Tottenham Hotspur are apparently ‘unlikely’ to sign any new players before the deadline of the current transfer window.

Spurs journalist Dan Kilpatrick shared a post on his official Twitter page revealing that Tottenham are not likely to be signing anyone today and that manager Jose Mourinho is apparently happy with his current squad but would have welcomed a new centre-half.

Kilpatrick then claimed Inter’s asking price for defender Milan Skriniar, who has been linked with a move to Spurs, is too high for the north London club.

The journalist also added that a potential deal to bring Chelsea centre-half Antonio Rudiger to the club is looking ‘too complicated’ to complete.

So far in this current summer transfer window, Spurs have spent a total sum of £88.56 million on bringing in players such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Giovani Lo Celso as well as a loan deal for Carlos Vinicius (per Transfermarkt).

Mourinho’s side has got their 2020/21 season off to a mixed start, having won two, drawn one and lost one in the Premier League so far.

The club has also won all three of their Europa League qualifying games and managed to make their way into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

However, Spurs have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the eight games they’ve played in across all competitions so far this season.

TIF Thoughts…

Given how Spurs haven’t kept a clean sheet in any match they’ve played in so far in this current campaign, it may come as no surprise that the club has been trying to sign a new centre-back in this window such as Skriniar and Rudiger.

However, with it now being reported by Kilpatrick that it looks unlikely the club will sign anyone today before the transfer deadline, it seems the club will have to make do with their current defensive options.
