Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for Football.london, has been discussing Dele Alli during a recent YouTube video.

The 24-year-old has been involved just twice in the Premier League so far this season for Jose Mourinho’s side and during the summer transfer window, there was much speculation with regards to his future and a possible move away from North London, however, he remains a Spurs player.

Alli signed for the Lilywhites back in February 2015 in a deal worth £5.97m (as per Transfermarkt) and despite falling out of favour of late, his overall record since joining the club, in our view, makes impressive reading.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

The £46.8m-rated attacking midfielder has scored 63 goals and provided his teammates with 55 assists in 227 appearances, proving he can produce at the top level.

When discussing how he could potentially force his way into Mourinho’s plans, here is what he had to say:

“For Dele now, it’s just about working hard. He’s not going anywhere, I’ve said this before, it’s about keeping his head down, working hard and just earning his place back in the team.

“There’s plenty of matches to come, it’s just about catching Mourinho’s eye and taking any opportunities that come his way.

“In a way, perhaps he needed this little bit of a reboot, you know, like turning your computer off and on [when it’s] been on far too long and it just needs a little bit of a reset and everything to get back to the way it was.

“I think that’s the thing with Dele. We know there’s a talent there. He’s just got to concentrate, get his head down and do what Mourinho wants, because other players have done it and they’re all absolutely shining.”

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments regarding Dele Alli…

Based on the fact he is struggling to get into the Spurs side, it’s probably fair to say that the former MK Dons player is currently going through one of the toughest periods in his career.

However, that is not to say that if he works hard and impresses the boss he can’t force his way back into the side.

The Spurs correspondent has spoken about what he believes the player needs to do in order to persuade Mourinho he can be an asset to his team but given he has been overlooked regularly of late, it remains to be seen whether he can force his way back into contention in the near future.
