In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on Spurs’ business in the transfer window and Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of their next fixture against West Ham United

During the video, the journalist talked about Spurs’ signing of Carlos Vinicius from Benfica. The Brazilian joined on loan from the Portuguese side during the recent summer transfer window, with the North London club holding the option to buy the 25-year-old for £40.83 million at the end of his loan (per BBC).

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

However, Gold suggests that had they not been successful in signing the Benfica man, they would have perhaps moved for Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, who was reportedly offered to the Lilywhites during the summer.

Here’s what Gold had to say about Spurs’ striker interest during the video:

“The other one was Milik at Napoli. He was the backup – he was the one where if they just could not get Vinicius, they were going to get Milik, – or they were going to try to. Really interesting that, I think I read that Napoli have been so desperate to try and essentially farm out Milik somewhere, that he hasn’t actually been registered in their Serie A squad or European squad, which kind of says a lot.”

TIF Thoughts…

Gold seems to think that had Spurs not been able to bring in Vinicius, they would have brought in Milik, although the fact that Napoli are seemingly so desperate to be rid of him perhaps doesn’t bode well for a potential future club. The former Ajax man, who is valued at £28.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), has also picked up long-term injuries in the past, which suggests that he may not have been the most appropriate of back-up strikers to Harry Kane, considering the hamstring issue that kept him out last season.

However, with the 26-year-old’s contract with Napoli set to run out at the end of the season, perhaps we will see Spurs return for him next summer with the view to signing him on a free transfer.
