Tottenham Hotspur-oriented journalist Alasdair Gold has recently made a claim about Spurs youngster Jack Clarke.

Gold was recently talking about many things involving Spurs in the latest video on his YouTube channel. He also spoke about the situation of multiple Spurs players and Clarke was one player that he focused on.

Clarke, 19, recently made his first-team debut for Spurs in a Europa League game against LASK, playing the final four minutes of the game. He had spent loan stints at Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers last season.

Gold claimed that Clarke is one of the fittest players at Spurs and Mourinho and his staff have been happy with how he’s been training.

Should Clarke play more often in the first-team?

He said: “[He] made his debut, which is great for him after more than a year since he joined the club – obviously he had those loan spells at Leeds and QPR that didn’t really work for him. As I’ve been told, and I think I’ve said before, Spurs staff and Mourinho have been delighted with what he’s doing in training. Apparently, he’s one of the fittest players at Tottenham on the training ground and he’s doing everything.

“Very clever kid, very intelligent – only 19. And he’s doing a lot of the stuff they’re asking for him.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s claim on Jack Clarke’s performances in Spurs training…

During his loan stint at Leeds last season, Clarke made just one appearance for the Elland Road side. He picked up a rating of just 6.38/10. At QPR, he only made six appearances for the club and picked up an average rating of 6.12 (as per WhoScored).

So his loan stints weren’t exactly impressive last season and if he really has impressed Mourinho in training, he deserves credit for that. Since five substitutions are allowed in the UEFA Europa League, Clarke can only hope that he gets some more game time in the first team in the competition and he gets a reward for impressing in training.
