On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer business that could be concluded before the deadline.

One topic of conversation on his recent video was Spurs’ interest in Inter defender Milan Skriniar.

The north London club have been heavily linked with the Slovakian international in recent weeks, although the two sides seem to be some way apart when it comes to negotiating a price for the centre-back.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

With the transfer window closing tonight, it perhaps seems unlikely that the Lilywhites will be able to finalise a deal in time, but perhaps they could return for the former Sampdoria man in the January transfer window.

Speaking at the weekend, here’s what Gold had to say about Skriniar during his video:

“One we know very well, he’s the main target, is Milan Skriniar. [The] situation still remains really the same with him – Inter want £45 million; Spurs were looking more at £32 million plus add-ons.

“So, the add-ons, of course, can knock it way up closer to that, but in essence, it’s a £13 million difference, which is a big difference.

“We saw the technical performance director, Steve Hitchen, out there in Italy trying to do the deal last week.

“It hasn’t happened, lots of posturing from Inter,  the sporting director saying he’s not for sale, Antonio Conte coming out saying he’s not for sale but then adding the caveat, ‘well, we do kind of need money for our own signings.’

“So, I think it’s going to be incredibly tough to do. I’m told Spurs will try again, [they] will make enquiries late in the window. They’ll have another go, but we’re at that stage now where it becomes too difficult for Inter to then do their deals that they want.

“The player wants to come to Tottenham – I’m told that the player is very keen on coming to Tottenham – but it’s going to be a tough one to do at this stage because it’s so late.

“Spurs are a club of opportunities in the transfer window, we know that – that’s the way they work. They will try again, they will go in there with a slightly raised bid to try and tempt Inter into selling him. If not, you’d think they will go back in January and see what has happened.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Gold suggests, Spurs may try with another bid for Skriniar, but he thinks that it is now too late in the window for a deal to be done.

Do you think Skriniar could join in January?

Yes

No

It seems as if the 25-year-old is keen on a move to the north London club, so as the journalist suggests, perhaps we will see them try again in the January transfer window.
