Alasdair Gold discussed all of the latest Tottenham Hotspur news on the most recent video that has been posted to his YouTube channel and the journalist spent some time talking about the future of Danny Rose.

Rose’s Spurs future has not looked very good of late, with the 30-year-old left-back said to have been ‘hoping’ to secure a move abroad during the most recent transfer window after having a heated conversation with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho which was shown on the Spurs-focused Amazon documentary All or Nothing.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

However, that transfer ultimately didn’t materialise and while Rose was then linked with a move to the Championship in the domestic-only transfer window that took place after the Premier League’s international transfer window had closed on 5th October, with Middlesbrough reportedly showing interest in the £9m-rated defender, he didn’t move to a lower division before last Friday’s domestic transfer deadline either and he remains a Tottenham player.

Rose hasn’t played for Spurs this season and as per Sky Sports, he hasn’t even been given a squad number by the north London club for the 2020/21 Premier League season.

So, with it looking like Rose’s chances of getting much game time at Spurs this term are quite slim at present, here is what Gold had to say about the player’s future during this recent YouTube video:

“Unless Spurs and he decide on a mutual termination of his contract like West Ham did with Jack Wilshere, he’s just going to sit there now for a few months until the January window.

“I can’t see anything other than that contract cancellation because it’s no help to anyone – he’s just going to sit there. Mourinho won’t have him anywhere near his first-team squad, you’d think, especially if he’s not registered to play in any competition, why would you?

“I just feel sad for a guy that’s been at Spurs for over a decade. He’s got his critics, he’s got his fans, I do genuinely believe everything he’s always done has probably been with Tottenham at heart – also a bit of himself – as everyone has to be in life but also I don’t think it’s a particularly pleasant way for his Tottenham career to come to an end.

“We’ll see what happens with Danny Rose in the next couple of weeks, I do wonder whether that contract cancellation might be the route to go and that way, as a free agent, I think he can still register for certain squads but I think it probably would have to happen quite quickly.”

Do you think a contract cancellation would be best for Spurs and Rose?

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments about Rose’s future…

Considering that Rose doesn’t seem to be in Mourinho’s plans for the first-team at Spurs and knowing that his deal with the Lilywhites is set to expire next summer, it may be understandable why Gold feels a contract cancellation may be best for all involved with regards to Spurs and Rose because if his time at the club is up, then perhaps it would be better for him to become a free agent and potentially find a new club sooner rather than later after not playing first-team football this season.

Meanwhile, if Spurs and Rose were to come to an agreement where the club would only pay a percentage of the remainder of his salary to release him from his deal early, as happened with West Ham and Wilshere, then perhaps this would be the best outcome for the club too.
