Many supporters have flocked to Twitter in order to react to a post from The Chronicle’s chief Newcastle United writer Lee Ryder in which it’s reported Mike Ashley is behind the Newcastle Consortium Supporters Limited’s legal challenge.
The group feel the Premier League have a lot to answer for with regards to the failed takeover of the club by the Saudi-backed consortium and it appears they have the full support of the Magpies’ current owner, Mike Ashley (as per The Chronicle).
Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund hoped to take control of the Toon but after lengthy delays, they pulled out of a deal earlier this year, in July to be specific (as per TalkSPORT).
How have a sample of the Newcastle faithful reacted to this latest update?
I believe this letter is a test to see how much of a fight the PL are willing to take on!! Before they take them to the cleaners. Only doubt I have is that a court case will take months and I thinks the Saudis want in before January window or they will walk!

I think this is threat no.1, if the premier league don’t play ball, they will step in up with @nickdemarco_ . Can’t see the premier league wanting to go to court with these

It’s clear from the above responses that some of these Newcastle fans still hold some optimism with regards to a takeover being completed. However, in our view, at this stage, there is nothing concrete to suggest approval is any closer to being granted by the Premier League, who continue to deny officially rejecting the takeover proposal.
