Newcastle United journalist and commentator Matthew Raisbeck has been airing his worries over the Tyneside club’s approach to matches.
This comes after Raisbeck recently made an appearance on The Chronicle’s Everything Is Black & White Podcast where he spoke about a number of different topics concerning Steve Bruce’ side.
On the topic of Newcastle’s current style of play and how they approach matches in the Premier League, Raisbeck had this to say on the matter.
He said: “The concerns about the approach, the style of play if you want to call it that although there are many supporters who feel like there isn’t a clear style of play and a clear plan and approach generally, never mind for specific games or parts of games.
“I think those concerns and those fears are valid and it is incumbent on Steve Bruce to sort it out and put it right and again, it does feel like one step forward and then another back at the moment, a good result a bad result and you want them to be more consistent because consistency is the key and that’s what will get you away from the bottom third of the table.”
Newcastle have had a very mixed start to their 2020/21 Premier League season after they have won two, drawn one and lost two of their opening five league games so far (per Transfermarkt).
Their latest league match saw them fall to a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Manchester United after taking the lead in the early stages of the match thanks to a Luke Shaw own goal.
Since taking over as Newcastle manager back in July 2019, Bruce has gone on to take charge of 53 matches for the Toon in which they have won 19, drawn 14 and lost 20.

TIF Thoughts on Raisbeck’s comments on Newcastle…
It’s clear from listening to what Raisbeck had to say in the podcast that this Newcastle team currently has some issues. Looking at their mixed bag of results in the Premier League so far this season, it’s clear that something needs to change for the club to get a more consistent run of results as Raisbeck said in the podcast.
Hopefully, Bruce and his players can work out any issues that they can identify as soon as possible.
