Liam Kennedy has been speaking on a recent edition of NUFC Matters with Steve Wraith about all things relating to Newcastle United.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was the latest news regarding the Toon’s proposed takeover, as Kennedy also offered his view on the news that Jamie Reuben has left his role at QPR.

The proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF and the Reuben brothers, which was withdrawn in July, intended to have Reuben as a board member.

With the news that the takeover is gathering pace once again with a legal challenge, Reuben has also left his role at QPR.

Could that indicate something is happening?

It seems as if Kennedy believes that Reuben leaving the QPR board is connected to what is going on with the proposed takeover.

He said: “I don’t think these things are [a] coincidence, stuff is moving – and that doesn’t mean it will happen, but I think it’s all connected.

“I am not going to tell you that I am basing it on a million and one bits of information that I’ve got.

“I do think it’s too close, too coincidental not to be connected to all of this.”

Do you think this all connected?

Yes, it has to be

Yes, it has to be

No, it will turn out to be nothing

No, it will turn out to be nothing

TIF Thoughts on Kennedy’s view on the Jamie Reuben news…

Reuben also shared Kennedy’s article about the latest legal challenge, so perhaps he is right to suggest these recent events are indeed connected.

The Premier League has been sent a letter by two fans and Robert O’Donoghue, which aims to get the takeover through.

The challenge also has the backing of Mike Ashley, and it will be interesting to see if it leads to anything.

However, for now, Kennedy thinks that Jamie Reuben leaving QPR and this legal challenge are connected to the Toon’s proposed takeover by the Saudi-backed consortium.
