A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from their club that contains a link to a statement from Mike Ashley on the Premier League’s pay-per-view scheme.
In the statement, Ashley asks the Premier League to ‘immediately act and review‘ the PPV scheme.
He then goes on to say that charging £14.95 in the current climate is ‘not acceptable‘ and that the price should be £4.95 ‘until Christmas’.
Ashley then suggested that the money should be split 50/50 between the Premier League and the rest of the football pyramid.
Finally, he confirmed that Newcastle had voted in favour of PPV but that this was because ‘there were no realistic or any viable alternatives put forward.’
This statement has drawn the attention of these Newcastle fans, who can’t believe that Ashley is fighting for them.
So, what did these Newcastle fans make of Mike Ashley’s statement?
What’s happening to mike, he’s actually caring about the fans for once…

Do you agree with this statement from Ashley?
No, he is still taking season ticket money
Yes, he is spot on
The idea of introducing PPV has received huge backlash, and the Premier League is now considering removing it or lowering the price.
Ashley is clearly not a fan of the current form of PPV, and though some Newcastle fans are happy he has done this, others feel this is a hypocritical statement as the Toon continue to take season ticket money from their fans.
How about you return the season ticket cash to fans? At least sky are charging £15 for games that can be watched. You’re charging £30 for games that can’t

Wow…..imagine making this statement whilst taking fans season ticket money ?

This statement from Ashley is rather scathing, and it will be interesting to see how the Premier League decides to act when talks over PPV take place.
The price of the games does seem ridiculous, and hopefully, PPV is either scrapped or the fee is significantly reduced.
