A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from The Chronicle that contains a link to the live blog on their website; from here, there are some comments from Steve Bruce talking about progress.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

The Toon’s boss claims that the club want to go about their business ‘quietly’ and that they will try to improve the squad ‘bit by bit’ before adding that it ‘takes time.’ (14:26)

This has drawn the attention of these Newcastle fans who are not happy with these comments.

So, what did these Newcastle fans make of Steve Bruce’s comments?

Do you think Bruce needs more time?

No, he has had plenty of time

No, he has had plenty of time

Yes, he just needs a little bit longer

Yes, he just needs a little bit longer

In the last transfer window, Bruce spent just under £35m and bought Callum Wilson and Jamal Lewis, while Mark Gillespie, Jeff Hendrick, and Ryan Fraser all arrived on free transfers.

So, Bruce added a striker, a winger, a goalkeeper, a left-back, and a versatile midfield player, and if you look at the Toon’s squad now, they have options in most positions.

So, the squad looks strong, and Bruce insists that the process is ongoing, yet the Toon’s goalkeeper (Karl Darlow) has still had to make the most saves in the league (flick to the 2020/21 season) (prior to Friday’s game) just as Newcastle’s goalkeeper (Martin Dubravka) last season also had to make the most saves in the league.

So, you could argue that there has not been that much progress from last season to this judging by that statistic.

This post continued to draw the attention of many Newcastle fans who clearly think that Bruce is out of his depth.

In the Premier League, Bruce has managed 436 games, in which he has won only 123, which is not a good record and so you can see why many Newcastle fans think that he is out of his depth.
