A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from Luke Edwards that came after the Toon drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Daily Telegraph reporter claimed that Newcastle had drawn against a ‘strong team‘ and that the ‘Bruce out mob’ might have to look at xG to ‘support their cause.’
This clearly annoyed these Toon fans, who were not happy with this tweet.
So, what did these Newcastle United fans make of Luke Edwards’ tweet?
Mind-boggling commentary
The #BruceOut mob won’t have to look any further than this.
Actual career stats. Which seem to imply he’s not very good. Yeah? pic.twitter.com/PUSa8DFUva

Luke that was an awful match with no style of play and we scored via a last minute free kick

Do you agree with Edwards?
No, we were lucky to get anything from the game
Yes, it was a good point
Sorry luke, but that performance was terrible, the set up of the team was all over the shop & only for a Poor wall set up & extremely smart thinking from Murphy we get nothing from that game. We offered nothing really in that game, horrible watch.

If you believe that performance was worth a draw I simply don’t know what to tell you.

Newcastle secured a draw near the end of the game thanks to a free-kick from Jacob Murphy in his first start in the Premier League this season.
Wolves had taken the lead thanks to an effort from Raul Jimenez that Karl Darlow got something on but couldn’t prevent from hitting the back of the net.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had 63% possession and fired in 16 shots, of which three were on target, while the Toon managed just two shots on target from five efforts at goal.
Edwards’ post continued to draw the attention of many Newcastle fans who feel that this result was just papering over the cracks.
Its a great point luke but yet again it papers over the cracks. Maybe playing anti football and hoping to fluke a goal at the other end floats your boat but it certainly doesn’t float mine. This can’t go on

Good point yes, good performance no, Woves poor today so a big let off, our midfield was disjointed and very poor going forward. That’s the reality, Bruce doesn’t have an answer and unfortunately won’t find one. Need fresh ideas

Nice little dig at Newcastle fans again. Very classy.

Luke you’re on the wind up. Did you watch that utter drivel. Good point for sure but shocking to watch.

Newcastle’s starting XI included Allan Saint-Maximin, Ryan Fraser, Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Murphy, but they created very little and had very few shots on goal, so you can see why many Toon fans were annoyed at the performance.
However, considering that Wolves have finished seventh in the Premier League for the last two seasons, then you can also see the thinking behind Edwards’ claim that this was a good point for the Toon.
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle are more adventurous next weekend against Everton at St. James’ Park.
