Many Newcastle United supporters have flocked to social media in order to react to a Twitter post from Sky Sports’ Keith Downie regarding Allan Saint-Maximin.
The winger, signed from Nice in August 2019, in a deal reportedly worth £16.2m (as per Transfermarkt), has enjoyed a positive start to the season earning him an impressive average performance rating of 7.03/10 (via WhoScored).
It seems, as per Sky Sports’ report, the player is set to be rewarded with a contract extension that will include a ‘bumper pay rise’. Downie, in his tweet, revealed that the Frenchman is set to become amongst the club’s highest earners.

It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Newcastle United supporters are pleased to learn of the contract extension the 23-year-old is set to be rewarded with and some joked with regards to whether or not the club had asked permission of the Premier League’s ‘big six’ as they may feel they had a part to play in the delays that led to the collapse of the proposed takeover.
