Toney had joined Newcastle from Northampton in the summer of 2015 for a fee of £324k. He left the club permanently in the summer of 2018 to join Peterborough. During his time at Newcastle, he had loan stints at clubs like Scunthorpe, Shrewsbury, Barnsley and Wigan (as per Transfermarkt).

He made only four first-team appearances for the Magpies and a couple of those appearances came in the Premier League too (as per Transfermarkt). Some Newcastle fans also began talking about Toney and they made their regrets clear.

During his time at Peterborough, Toney made 94 appearances in all competitions and scored 49 goals, while picking up 15 assists. In the 2019/20 League One campaign, he scored 24 goals and racked up six assists in 32 games (as per Transfermarkt).

His tally at Brentford has been pretty impressive already and because of that, one can understand why these Newcastle fans believe that the Magpies should have kept Toney at the club. They can only hope that the club tries to bring him back at some point in the future.
