A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which has relayed takeover news from Keith Downie.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

The Sky Sports man speaking on a recent Sky Sports Football Podcast claimed Mike Ashley will ‘leave no stone unturned’ and will ‘spend what is required’ to force through the takeover by PCP Capital Partners, PIF, and the Reuben brothers.

The bid from this consortium was initially withdrawn in July after the Premier League failed to reach a decision on it, but they tried again behind closed doors.

When that didn’t get the seal of approval from the league, Newcastle released a statement confirming that the takeover had officially been rejected.

The league denied this claim, but then Ashley appointed two lawyers, and he intends to force the takeover through.

This news from Downie drew the attention of these Toon fans who are praising Ashley.

So, what did these Toon fans make of Downie’s takeover update?

Do you think the takeover is still on?

Yes, Ashley will force it through

Yes, Ashley will force it through

No, nothing will happen

No, nothing will happen

So, that is where we are at; the deal is now with the lawyers, and the intention is to force through this deal, so this information from Downie supports what we already know.

However, these Toon fans are clearly fed up with the takeover saga and believe that it is dead.

The problem the Premier League had was that they saw the Saudi state and PIF as the same entity, and they offered arbitration to solve this issue, but that was rejected, and the deal collapsed.

However, in Newcastle’s view, the consortium provided ‘overwhelming evidence‘ to prove that PIF and the Saudi state were separate.

The deal is now with the lawyers, so we will have to see if they can fulfil Ashley’s wish and force the takeover through.
