Many Newcastle United supporters have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the Toon’s official Twitter account that relayed some post-match comments from Steve Bruce on goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who suffered an injury during the North East club’s 4-1 loss to Manchester United this past weekend.
Darlow played the entirety of this past weekend’s game, however, as per ChronicleLive, he ‘is facing an immediate assessment on his leg’ after getting into ‘a collision’ with Red Devils attacker Marcus Rashford during Saturday’s game.
The £2.16m-rated man has only made 24 Premier League appearances for the Toon in his career, however, he has played in all five of Newcastle’s top-flight fixtures so far this term with fellow Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka – who played all of the club’s Premier League games over the previous two seasons – sidelined due to injury at present.
As explained by ChronicleLive, Newcastle ‘will be down to the bare bones’ in the goalkeeping department if Darlow is now set to join Dubravka on the sidelines due to injury.
As per the Toon’s official Twitter account, Newcastle boss Bruce stated that Darlow “took a hell of a blow” and revealed that the ‘keeper was “very sore” after the game.
So, how did these Newcastle United fans react to Bruce’s post-match comments on Darlow?

Plenty of Newcastle supporters replied to this tweet from the club’s official Twitter account to criticise Bruce for not taking Darlow off of the pitch after he suffered this injury.
Yet you left him on for the last twenty minutes, hell of a tactical decision there Steve.

So why did you not take him off??!! So frustrating
— Jonathan Greenwood (@JGreenwood22) October 17, 2020
Then why leave him on

It may be fair to say that Darlow has made the most of the opportunity he’s had this season, with WhoScored giving him the highest overall rating in the Premier League of any Newcastle player (7.69) for the 2020/21 campaign. With that in mind, it may not be too surprising that these Newcastle fans were critical of Bruce’s decision to leave him on the pitch for the entirety of Saturday’s loss to Manchester United and potentially risk aggravating his injury further.
So you kept him on the pitch and potentially now risk losing him for a longer spell. What an idiotic decision from Bruce!

Really is ludicrous

Meanwhile, some other Toon fans replied to this tweet relaying Bruce’s comments simply to share that they don’t want the 59-year-old to be the manager of the North East club anymore.

Should Bruce have taken Darlow off when he got injured?
YES
NO
So, as can be seen from these Newcastle fans’ replies to this tweet, it certainly seems as though plenty of Toon supporters are annoyed by Bruce and how he handled this situation.
