Journalist Dan Morgan has recently made a claim about Takumi Minamino and his situation at Liverpool.

Morgan made an appearance on the latest episode of the Blood Red podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Anfield-based side. They talked about multiple Liverpool players and one player that Morgan talked about was Minamino. He made his concerns clear about the Japanese player, even though he believes that Minamino has every attribute to be a Liverpool player.

Minamino joined Liverpool from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020 for a fee of only £7.65 million. He has previously plied his trade with Cerezo Osaka as well (as per Transfermarkt). He is currently valued at £9m.

Morgan made a claim about the Japanese star’s situation and he seems to have concerns about how he’s adapting to the 4-3-3 formation.

He said: “I’m slightly concerned about Minamino if I’m honest. I think he’s got every attribute to be a Liverpool player but I don’t think he’s going to, in the short-term, succeed playing in that Firmino role.

“I think he’s struggling to adapt to that 4-3-3 shape, whereas I think if you put him in a 4-2-3-1, sat in behind someone like [Mohamed] Salah, I think you’ll definitely get to see more of the sort of the Minamino that we believed we were getting when we signed him.”

TIF Thoughts…

Minamino has made seven appearances in all competitions this season for Liverpool and has scored three goals while picking up one assist (as per Transfermarkt).

All four of those goal contributions have come when he’s played on the left-wing and he hasn’t contributed to a single goal while playing as a centre-forward (as per Transfermarkt).

It shows that he hasn’t exactly made an impact while playing in Roberto Firmino’s position and the left-wing position is where he has really shined. So perhaps, Jurgen Klopp should consider using him in that position more often this season.
