Liverpool journalist James Pearce has been sharing some insight into the ‘pressure’ surrounding Reds goalkeeper Adrian.

This comes after Pearce recently made an appearance on The Athletic’s Liverpool-themed podcast The Red Agenda where he spoke about a variety of different subjects concerning the Merseyside club.

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

On the subject of Adrian and the pressure he is under after conceding seven goals during his last appearance for Liverpool in their 7-2 thrashing against Aston Villa, Pearce had this to say on the matter.

He said: “There is pressure on Adrian, but I know for a fact he was back at Melwood the day after what happened at Villa Park working with John Achterberg knuckling down desperate to learn from what he’d done wrong and knowing that he’ll have the opportunity to put things right at Goodison [Park].

“Talking about the absence of fans, I think it probably helps Adrian, no fans, because I think when you’ve made a mistake like that, going into a game as big as Everton away, I think the Everton fans inevitably would have been on his case, from the absolute word go on Saturday and he won’t have that, which I think should help him.”

As Pearce mentioned in the podcast, Liverpool’s next game in the Premier League is against their Merseyside rivals Everton away at Goodison Park. Given the absence of Alisson Becker through injury, Adrian is likely to play against Carlo Ancelotti’s side at the weekend.

Liverpool signed Adrian back in August 2019 from fellow Premier League club West Ham United on a free transfer. Since then, the Spaniard, who is currently valued at £3.6 million, has made 21 appearances for the Reds in which he has conceded 33 goals and kept just four clean sheets along the way.

TIF Thoughts on James Pearce’s Liverpool news on Adrian…

Given how WhoScored gave Adrian a match rating of 3.83/10 for his poor performance against Villa where he made a mistake that led to a goal, it comes as no surprise that he is under pressure with the match against Everton on the horizon.

Hopefully, Adrian can put the Villa game behind him and help his side get a positive result against Everton at the weekend.
