First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

On the subject of Alisson, who has been out of action with a shoulder injury he sustained in training earlier in the month, Doyle had this update to share.

He said: “The latest that we’ve heard is that he’s just started kind of training in the last couple of days, he’s basically not working with the team yet but he’s working individually, a bit of one on one session where he’s doing a bit of diving and a bit of falling over, which as we know is quite good for a goalkeeper.

“Jurgen Klopp said it on Friday he said that he’s hoping that things have moved on. He said he was in very good shape. He wasn’t going to put any timeline on it but the indication then is that when we first thought that he’d be out for six weeks, perhaps it wouldn’t be the case and now seems as though Liverpool, they don’t want to put a target for when they expect him to be returning but the mood is that he may be back by the end of the month.”

Liverpool signed the Brazilian shot-stopper back in the 2018 summer transfer window from Italian side AS Roma for a fee of £56.25 million.

Since then, the 28-year-old, who is currently valued at £72 million, has made 92 appearances for the Reds across all competitions in which he has managed to keep 45 clean sheets and concede just 68 goals (per Transfermarkt).

Despite Liverpool winning the Premier League last season, Alisson didn’t have a great campaign individually with WhoScored giving him a season rating of 6.62/10, making him Liverpool’s 16th highest-rated player for their 2019/20 league season.

TIF Thoughts on Ian Doyle’s fitness update on Alisson…

It’s great to hear that Alisson is on the right track to getting back to full fitness. Given how Liverpool have conceded nine goals in the two league games that Alisson has missed, this shows that they really could do with getting him back on the pitch as soon as possible.
