Many Leeds United supporters have flocked to a Twitter post from The Athletic’s Phil Hay with regards to the Premier League’s recent announcement regarding their new pay-per-view arrangement for the non-televised fixtures until the end of October.
It was announced on Friday afternoon that the five non-televised fixtures per round will be available for fans to watch via the BT Sport Box Office and Sky Sports Box Office services (via premierleague.com).
Following that update, Hay tweeted: “You’d like to think that some way will be found by clubs to accommodate season ticket holders in this arrangement.”
In response to his post, here is how a sample of the Elland Road faithful responded on the social media platform.
At £14.95 per person, they had better. Otherwise season ticket holders essentially have to pay twice just to watch the matches. It’s disgusting.https://t.co/NmoWZCttAZ

What mechanism is in place to prevent Sky & BT “not selecting” the most lucrative PPV fixtures moving forward past the current selections. Feel like there is a way to rinse fans even more, considering we’ve already paid for a ST, BT & Sky subscription

Yep 100%. Doesn’t seem particularly equitable to be paying twice over #lufc

Are you unhappy with the Premier League's announcement?
Yes
No
And they wonder why people opt for illegal streaming.. Stop ripping people off and you’ll get all those customers back ?????

This is a very slippery slope

It’s just driving people to illegal streams. Completely pricing them out

Hope so, Fill.

It’s clear from the above responses that these supporters agree wholeheartedly with what the Leeds United correspondent has had to say. There is also a suggestion by some that this is the kind of decision that pushes people towards the idea of illegal streaming.
Given many of the club’s supporters would have already paid for season tickets, it is understandable why following this announcement, some may feel frustrated.
