Jim Salveson, Niall McCaughan, Tom Williams, Ben Dinnery and Joe Doyle all appeared on a recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast and during the show, Salveson and McCaughan spent some time praising Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford.

Prior to the 2020/21 season, Bamford had made 27 Premier League appearances in his career and he managed to score just one goal in those 27 games, providing no assists, as per Transfermarkt.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

However, after helping Leeds to earn promotion to the top-flight as winners of the Championship last season, Bamford has scored three goals and provided two assists in his five league appearances for the Whites so far this term. The 27-year-old is currently the Yorkshire-based club’s top goalscorer and top assist provider in the league for the 2020/21 campaign.

With that in mind, it may be fair to say he’s started this season quite impressively and therefore, it mightn’t be too surprising that McCaughan was full of praise for the attacker during this recent edition of the Football Social Daily podcast, saying: “I want people to focus a little bit more on him.

“This is a lad who never got given a chance at Chelsea and is a proven goalscorer in the Championship and is now starting to find his feet in the Premier League at Leeds United. I think that Bamford is as much of a threat to any defence, at this moment in time, [as] Rodrigo or even Raphinha.”

In response to McCaughan’s comments, Salveson had this to say about the £9m-rated forward: “I think Patrick Bamford’s been a revelation this season considering there were so many question marks about him over the summer.”

TIF Thoughts on what these podcasters had to say about Bamford…

It’s clear that these podcasters have been impressed by Bamford’s performances in the top-flight so far this term, with both McCaughan and Salveson suggesting that the player has proven some doubters wrong with his performances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side at the start of this season.

Hopefully, for Leeds and for Bamford, the forward can build on his positive start to the 2020/21 campaign with the Yorkshire-based club in order to show that he can sustain this level of performance in the top-flight throughout the season and ensure that his start to the campaign doesn’t just go down as a purple patch.
