Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Phil Hay discusses EFL clubs’ reactions to the ‘Project Big Picture’ proposals.

In his post, Hay quote-tweeted Matt Slater, who states that, after a meeting between ‘bosses from EFL’s 72 clubs’ regarding ‘Project Big Picture’, he originally misjudged the popularity of the proposals in the EFL when he claimed that two out of three clubs would be for the changes. Instead, Slater now states that nine out of 10 clubs would support the proposals.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

In response, Hay stated that he is ‘not overly surprised by this’ news, as he feels the ‘promise of immediate money will outweigh longer-term implications for plenty of EFL clubs’.

So, what did these Leeds fans make of Phil Hay’s tweet on Project Big Picture?

The ‘Project Big Picture’ proposals, which were revealed by The Telegraph, include reducing the size of the Premier League to an 18-team competition, with 25% of the top flight’s annual revenue going to EFL clubs and a £250 million one-off payment to be shared amongst lower league clubs to help them through the financial difficulties caused by the global pandemic.

In return, there would be a host of changes as to how the Premier League is run, which would include the ‘abolition of the one-club, one-vote principle’ as well as the ‘abolition of the threshold of 14 votes to pass any decision or regulation change’, in addition to the fact that ‘the nine clubs who have been in the Premier League for the longest – which includes the big six – would dictate its running in every aspect’.

As such, it could be argued that the ‘big six’ are offering short-term support for lower league clubs, who are in desperate need of immediate financial help, in return for complete control of how the Premier League is run.

And, this is something that many more fans of Leeds have been voicing their concern about on Twitter.

All in all, it would appear that the vast majority of these Leeds fans are very sternly against the proposals within ‘Project Big Picture’, and do not want to see the changes go ahead.
