Leeds United’s English midfielder Kalvin Phillips has recently heaped praise on Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.

In recent weeks, the English attacker has been campaigning for the government to continue free school meals for children from disadvantaged families (per BBC).

Rashford’s petition calling for children to receive free meals during the school holidays has recently surpassed one million signatures.

The efforts from Rashford came after MPs rejected Labour’s motion to extend free meals beyond term time despite them having been extended in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

During a recent episode of the Leeds That podcast, Phillips was interviewed and he heaped praise on Marcus Rashford for what he has done for children from disadvantaged families.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

He said: “I think it’s amazing.

“He’s just a normal guy, he literally just turns up, he’s friendly with everyone and then goes out and plays like he does.

“For him to take what platform he’s got and turn it into a worldwide thing of [helping] kids that are unable to eat at school [and] don’t have free school meals.

“For him to be able to do that and just get so much support from it, I think it’s amazing, what he’s done.”

During the international break in September when Phillips made his international debut for England, Rashford was not involved in the squad.

However, during the international break earlier this month, the two would have trained with the Three Lions at the same time as they both made appearances together against Belgium and Denmark.

Football aside, it is good to see the Whites’ 24-year-old middleman giving Rashford the praise he deserves for his recent campaigning.
