Supporters of Leeds United have flocked to a Twitter post from the Whites’ former loanee Jean-Kevin Augustin.
In January, Marcelo Bielsa’s side loaned the Frenchman from RB Leipzig with a clause in place that would see Leeds sign the player permanently for €21m (£19.2m) on the condition they secured promotion to the Premier League (per Bild).
However, the Whites decided they no longer wanted Augustin and claimed they did not have to sign the player as the promotion clause in the deal expired on 1st July – with their Premier League status only confirmed some weeks later due to the prolonged season.
On Monday, the frontman moved from RB Leipzig to FC Nantes on a free transfer and he tweeted to Leeds fans following the move.
The player aired his thanks to Leeds supporters who had been supporting him and stated his wish for ‘the club to do well and keep on shining’ in the Premier League (per Jean-Kevin Augustin).
Lots of Leeds fans then flocked to the post to air their responses.
Just a quick message to thank all the @LUFC fans that have been supporting me since day 1. i wish the club to do well and keep on shining in PL ?? #MOT ??

Good Luck to you, Wishing you All the Best
Such a shame that we never got to see you perform as we all know you can for Leeds!!
I’m sure you will go on to be a great success in the Future

During his time on loan with the Whites, Augustin made just three appearances in the Championship in which he neither scored a goal nor provided an assist (per WhoScored).
Do you wish Leeds would have signed Jean-Kevin Augustin?
Yes, we didn't see his best
No, it was the right decision
Best of luck JKA, I would have loved to see you play more for us. Will follow your career with interest and maybe see you again on Football Manager! 😉

During his three appearances for Bielsa’s side in the second tier, the Frenchman earned a weak 5.96/10 average rating.
That rating was enough to make the 23-year-old striker the joint-worst performer for Leeds last season alongside Mateusz Bogusz.
Thanks and best of luck in the future ???

As can be seen in these responses from Leeds fans, there seems to be plenty of mutual respect between the player and the Elland Road faithful.
