Many Leeds United supporters have flocked to a tweet from The Athletic’s Serie A correspondent James Horncastle in which he translated some comments attributed to Andrea Radrizzani regarding the future of Rodrigo de Paul.
The club’s majority shareholder, speaking to Radio 24, when asked whether a transfer to Elland Road for the 26-year-old was still on the cards, replied: “We thought about it but I don’t think anyone will sign him.” (via @JamesHorncastle).
It seems, judging by Radrizzani’s comments, the Yorkshire-based club seriously considered a move for the player but Udinese’s €40m (£36.2m) asking price may have put them off. Following the post, here is how a sample of the Leeds fans have responded on social media.
Sick of hearing about him tbh

Do you think the club have genuinely given up hope of signing De Paul?

Whilst some Leeds supporters are sick of hearing about Rodrigo de Paul, others expressed their disappointment at the fact Radrizzani’s comments appear to suggest a deal that would see the Argentine swap Serie A for the Premier League is unlikely.
The transfer window is due to close on 5th October so if the Whites are still looking to strengthen further, they will need to get a move on.
