LeedsLive’s Beren Cross recently did a Q&A during which he discussed all things Leeds United and one of the topics that he talked about is the possibility of Leeds signing Manchester United’s Dan James, who they previously tried to sign from Swansea City in January 2019 before the deal ‘collapsed at the eleventh hour,’ as per Manchester Evening News.

As per The Athletic, it appeared as though the Whites were set to complete the signing of French midfielder Michael Cuisance from Bayern Munich this week.

However, despite the player having been ‘ready to join’ the Whites and despite the Yorkshire-based club having been ‘ready to sign him’ too, Leeds ended up pulling out of the deal ‘due to concerns about Cuisance’s medical.’

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

So, following the collapse of that deal, in this recent Q&A, one reader asked Cross (Live blog, 11:31, 02/10/20) which player the Whites are ‘closest to acquiring as it stands’.

Cross shed light on the latest with regards to three potential Leeds transfer targets in response to that question, one being Manchester United winger Dan James.

Regarding the possibility of the £17.1m-rated Welshman joining the Whites, Cross said: (Live blog, 13:15, 02/10/20) ‘Dan James remains a major target for United, but they are in Man Utd’s hands. The latter definitely need someone in before they let James out.’

Do you think Leeds will sign James?

TIF Thoughts…

So, judging by Cross’ response to that question, it doesn’t appear as though Leeds are on the verge of signing James at present.

However, with the Cuisance transfer having only just collapsed, maybe Leeds need some more time to evaluate their options before pushing ahead with pursuing their next transfer target and considering that the journalist did confirm that James is a ‘major target’ for the Yorkshire-based club, then perhaps they will make some progress on this deal before Monday’s deadline.
