Phil Kirkbride, Paul Wheelock and Gavin Buckland discussed all of the latest Everton news on the most recent edition of the Royal Blue podcast and they spent some time talking about Toffees striker Cenk Tosun during the show.

Tosun has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in his 51 appearances for Everton since joining the Merseyside club from Turkish side Besiktas back in January 2018 for £20.25m.

To kick off this quiz on Allan, what squad number does the midfielder currently wear for Everton?

The Turkey international is yet to make his first appearance for the Toffees this season, as he is currently recovering from a cruciate ligament injury that he suffered last season while out on loan with Crystal Palace, where he scored one goal in five appearances.

During this recent edition of the Royal Blue podcast, Buckland talked about Tosun’s role at Everton following fellow centre-forward Moise Kean’s recent departure on loan for the 2020/21 campaign and he shared some optimism about the 29-year-old’s future at Goodison Park, saying: “I think Tosun would be above Kean in the pecking order because I think he’s got more experience of playing that role.

“Cenk Tosun, on occasions, has shown signs – if you got the right service to him in the penalty area, like [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin’s been getting in these opening seven games – I wouldn’t mind seeing Tosun, because he is like a sort of penalty-box, between-the-goal striker, isn’t he? I wouldn’t rule him out as an option ahead of Kean, to be honest with you.

“I think if he was fit – and [in] some respects, I know he’s a bit more experienced – I’d rather have him ahead of Kean, to be honest with you, from what I’ve seen of both of them at the club.”

TIF Thoughts on Wheelock’s claim on Cenk Tosun’s future at Goodison Park…

So, as can be seen in what Buckland had to say, it seems that he believes Tosun could have plenty to offer this current Everton team as an attacking option once he returns to full fitness.

As per Transfermarkt, Tosun is expected to complete his recovery from injury in early November, so if this is accurate, then we may not have to wait much longer to see if the 29-year-old, who is yet to feature under Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian manager arrived at Goodison Park last December, can kickstart his Everton career, as Buckland seems to think he might.
