Aston Villa podcaster Chris Dolan has been sharing his thoughts on any potential transfer deals the club could make before the domestic window closes later this month.
This comes as Dolan recently made an appearance on the latest video from The Villa View YouTube channel, where he spoke about a range of topics concerning Dean Smith’s side.
On the subject of the summer transfer window, Dolan shared his thoughts on any potential signings Villa could make before the domestic window shuts.
He said: “Maybe Josh King could come in, but I still think we’re just one striker down – I know [Bertrand] Traore can play up top as a number nine, but for me, I want another striker in there on the bench that can come on with half an hour to go and bang a few in because obviously as much as we love Keinan Davis and his work rate is phenomenal, he doesn’t score you goals.
“Even for [Ollie] Watkins, you need somebody to challenge Watkins and you almost don’t want to see Watkins become too comfortable, you need a little bit of competition, especially up top.”
Throughout the summer transfer window, Villa signed Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash, Bertrand Traore and Emiliano Martinez on permanent deals, while they also signed Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley on a loan deal until the end of the current season.
So far in the Premier League, Villa have had a fantastic start to their 2020/21 campaign after winning their first three league fixtures, including a 7-2 thrashing of league champions Liverpool, with summer signings Watkins and Barkley on the scoresheet.
