Chris Dolan has been discussing the club’s owners during a recent episode of The Villa View podcast following the club’s victory over Liverpool in the Premier League.

Dean Smith’s side ran riot against the champions, beating them 7-2 at Villa Park thanks to a hat-trick from Ollie Watkins and goals from John McGinn, Ross Barkley and a brace from Jack Grealish (as per BBC Sport).

First up in this quiz on Gabriel Agbonlahor, how old is the former Villa man?

In the aftermath of this famous victory, Dolan was full of praise for those who own the Midlands-based club, here is what he had to say:

“They’re amazing. They’re kind of like silent assassins, you don’t hear an awful lot from them, but they’ve been unbelievable and there’s something about them – they don’t seem like a flash in the pan. Yes, they’ve spent money, but they haven’t been crass, they haven’t just thrown money at it and went ‘right, we want top four’; they’ve been very calculated. They’ve obviously had a plan, they’ve obviously sat down and worked on a plan.”

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear from Dolan’s comments he has been impressed by the work the club’s owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have done with the club.

Aston Villa have enjoyed an impressive start to the new Premier League campaign and as a result, they sit second in the table having taken maximum points despite having already faced last season’s champions.

Having added the likes of Ollie Watkins, Matty Cash, Ross Barkley and Emiliano Martinez (as per Transfermarkt) as well as keeping hold of Jack Grealish, in our view, Villa should be far better equipped to compete at a higher level this season.
