On the latest episode of ‘The Star Owls Daily’ podcast, Alex Miller and Joe Crann have been discussing the latest goings-on at Sheffield Wednesday and looking ahead to Wednesday night’s fixture against Rotherham United.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode, which was titled: ‘I would be concerned, but…‘ was the latest injury news regarding Garry Monk’s squad. Ahead of the game against Paul Warne’s side, the Owls currently sit bottom of the Championship, despite having accumulated eight points in the league, as their 12 point deduction from before the season began means they still sit on -4 points (per BBC Sport).

We'll kick off our latest EFL quiz with a Championship question. By how many goals did Luton Town beat bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend?

Here’s what Miller had to say about the big boost for the Owls ahead of Wednesday’s game:

“A bit of long-overdue good news. It sounds very much like Tom Lees and Dominic Iorfa are very much in contention for a place [tonight] in the side against Rotherham. Izzy Brown, I think the wording was, he’s hoping to be involved, so maybe he’s a little bit further back, just reading between the lines, there.

“[It’s] certainly a big boost, we’ve spoken on this podcast about the defensive frailties that Wednesday have had over the last few games and with Joost van Aken out as well, it’s a big, big boost to have at least one of them back.”

TIF Thoughts on Miller’s comments regarding Lees and Iorfa…

Although Miller suggests that the Owls have some ‘defensive frailties’, they have kept five clean sheets in all competitions so far this season, including one in the win at Birmingham City, so the return of both Lees and Iorfa from injury will certainly help to strengthen that defence, especially with van Aken out suspended on Wednesday (per The Star).

Wednesday night’s fixture against Rotherham, a side who were promoted from League One last season, potentially represents a chance for the Owls to move closer to a positive points tally, as the hosts are yet to taste victory at the AESSEAL New York Stadium so far this season, so Owls fans will certainly be hoping to see their side pick up a much-needed three points.
