Nottingham Post journalist Matt Davies was joined by Nottingham Forest fan Michael Temple and Derby County fan James Benstead on the most recent edition of the Garibaldi Red podcast during which they discussed the Reds’ recent 1-1 draw with local rivals Derby County.

Anthony Knockaert, who recently joined Forest on loan from Premier League Fulham until January, made his first appearance for the Reds in this game, as a second-half substitute and during this recent edition of the Garibaldi Red podcast, Temple shared some excitement over the £4.5m-rated man’s future at the City Ground following his performance in last Friday’s game.

We'll kick off our latest EFL quiz with a Championship question. By how many goals did Luton Town beat bottom-of-the-table Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend?

Here is what he had to say about Knockaert: “Yeah, just that all-round quality, always wants the ball, very assured when he’s got it, there’s that delivery with [his] left foot, you saw it from the corner straight away and the ball that he whipped in for the goal as well was pretty special.

“I think he’s going to become the set-piece taker, he’s going to become the guy that you want on the ball in the final third and he’s going to unlock defences.

“This is a guy that Fulham paid £10m for not so long ago, so I think Forest have got a really strong signing there.

“He’s dominated the Championship for a long period of time, and I think he can have a real impact, particularly in this run of four games we’ve got coming up, which look very winnable.”

TIF Thoughts on what Temple had to say about Knockaert…

So, as can be seen from what Temple had to say, it certainly seems as though he was impressed by Knockaert’s second-half performance for the Reds versus Derby last Friday.

It may be fair to say that the Frenchman did play a prominent role for Forest in the second half of last Friday’s Championship fixture. As per WhoScored, he made 10 crosses which means that he made at least four more crosses than any other Forest player during the game.

Additionally, Knockaert took one shot, made one key pass and completed one dribble during his second-half performance versus Derby, so it certainly seems like he was heavily involved for Chris Hughton’s side during the second half of the game and it may be understandable why Temple seemingly feels his performance in the Reds’ most recent league match was an encouraging one.
