A lot of Celtic fans have flocked to Twitter to slate Scott Brown for his performance in the Hoops’ third-round Europa League qualifier against Latvian side Riga FC.
Brown started for the Glasgow-based side in this game and received a booking in the 40th minute of the contest.
As per the Daily Record’s Graeme Young (18:43), the 35-year-old has been criticised by some members of the Celtic faithful this term and upon Brown receiving this yellow card, Young stated that he doesn’t think the Hoops captain’s performance in this game will have done much to ‘silence the critics’.
We feel that Young may be right in saying this, as plenty of Hoops fans have aired some criticism for the £1.08m-rated man and his performance in this match via Twitter.
Scott Brown is horrendously ineffective in these kinda games

Watching Scott Brown play just now and it’s horrific just how far off it he is.

What’s the point in Scott Brown these days, offers nothing on the park, totally anonymous. I get keeping him about the dressing room and training but his playing time should be limited, sick of saying it

Brown slowing everything down. Every pass is backwards to.

Scott brown is really slow these days,he will get found out against better sides big time. Christie thinks hes better than he is, and lenny yet again has got his tactics all wrong, which is actually starting to worry me

In the Daily Record’s live blog post for the game (18:43), Young also questioned if it was even necessary for Celtic to use a player like Brown in this type of match, and some Celtic fans seem to have been thinking along similar lines, as they took to Twitter to suggest that the 35-year-old midfielder is being played too frequently by the Hoops at present.
Sick of seeing Scott Brown play every single game for Celtic. Swap him out n were a better team nowadays

Neil Lennon is gonna make the fans turn on Scott Brown by continuously playing him were he offers nothing on the park

Its not? Scott brown doesnt look fit, does that mean he wants to leave?

Is Brown being played too much?
YES
NO
As can be seen in these Celtic supporters’ tweets, it certainly seems as though Brown’s performance against Riga has not gone down very well with many of the club’s fans.
