Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays news that the club have made an enquiry for Sampdoria defender Omar Colley.

According to Sky Sports, following the enquiry, Neil Lennon’s side were told that the Italian club would be looking for a fee of around £10 million for the 27-year-old, however, that they would be open to negotiations.

After this news was relayed on Twitter by Celtic Bible, which included a clip from Sky Sports News (via Euro Football Daily), fans of the club have flocked to have their say on the matter, with many suggesting that the interest in Colley could spell the end for Kristoffer Ajer.

Since joining Sampdoria from KRC Genk in what was a £7.2 million deal back in 2018, Colley has gone on to make 55 appearances for the Serie A side, chipping in with one assist so far.

Last season, the defender featured 31 times in Serie A, registering one assist and averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.9 interceptions and 4.8 clearances per game, culminating in an average WhoScored match rating of 6.73/10 – ranking him as the club’s fifth-best performer in the league.

In addition to the previous comments, it would seem that many more Celtic fans feel that the club’s apparent interest in Colley means that it looks likely that Ajer, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this summer, could be on his way out of Scotland.

All in all, it would appear that these Celtic fans are more concerned with the potential outgoing of Ajer than the potential incoming of Colley.

However, the fact that Celtic are said to be interested in another centre-back after just acquiring the services of Shane Duffy on a season-long loan would appear to indicate that Lennon could well be plotting a move for a replacement.
